Just kidding, I have no idea. |
No S2000s are made in the US. My guess would be about 8000 are delivered every year.

I'm fairly sure that's it's 5,000 per year. I'm 90% sure of this.

I find it hard to believe that some one goes to the trouble of posting an authoritative link, and people continue to post numbers they thought they read some where. Go to the link...I know, you have to figure out how to read the chart, and go to several months of data, so here it is:
Hondas sold by Honda of America (I guess this should really say United States?): 1999-3400 2000-6797 2001-9682 2002-4460 (through May, through May 2001 it was 5031, so they're running behind last year) P.S. Thanks, Gowgom |
Interesting, I thought there was a set number each year. Thanks

Those numbers are interesting. Looks like the numbers will be down again this year; if the trend continues it will be below 9000. So a drop of about 600 each year, if you consider 99&00 to be one year.

It's also interesting in that it's Honda's decision, not market driven.
The dealers around me sell every S2000 that comes in before they hit the floor, so it's not like the production numbers are down because they can't sell the car; rather allocations are such that the dealers I talked to get an average of eight to ten a year. Granted, these obviously aren't the Chicago area dealers that have three on the lot at a time, so there could be other factors, but my read is it's Honda limiting the number available rather than sales falling; if they sent my dealer four or five at a time I doubt they'd have any problem getting rid of them... |
