Nov 16 purchased 2001 with only 27,500 miles. 3 previous owners. Engine looks like new (had it thoroughly checked), every document including original window sticker ($32,740), all service records, always kept in a garage (I even contacted original owner). 100% stock with almost new Michelin tires. Front bumper had been poorly repainted and a few light scratches which mostly buffed out. Other than that it was perfect. Paid $21k. A little on the high side but this car was so much tighter than the other S2000's I drove that a few thousand extra seemed worth it. However, if I was to do it again I would have bought something that had around 60K miles and paid around $17K. Reason is that this is my weekend fun car and maybe six autocrosses a year. I have modded it to STR status (K&N CAI, 17" Oz Racing wheels, 245 tires, UK exhaust mod, Karcepts front bar). I've kept all the original parts so if someone wanted to they could easily return it to all original stock. However, the car handles so much better and sounds fantastic now that I expect to keep it a long time. And I think we need to remember that, typically, cars are depreciating assets and if you can own a car that drives this great for less than $1500 per year of depreciation that is pretty reasonable. The original owner had it 13 years and sold it for about $19,000. Therefore, his depreciation was about $1000 per year. Not too many cars out there that hold value that well.

I've been told that late last year the prices on S2000's started to drop some. Nobody seems to know why but proof is Rhino's post above this. It's what I've noticed online as well. Why?

He was asking 18k but got in a pinch buying a new house and needed cash quickly. If that hadn't happened, I'd never picked this one up for that.

2002
248k miles
$5200
+$4k paint, top, interior
I didn't like the two tone paint so getting repainted. Also changed out the seats and door panels. Replaced all fluids. And going back to shop for final mechanical check (replace tensioners for sure, perhaps timing chain).
By the time I'm done I'll be in around $11k. But with new quality paint job, new bumpers front and rear, newer interior, new top. And mechanically checked out. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Going back to one color (original). No badges
Work in progress
Replacing both bumpers
