Default How Much Did Your Insurance Increase After a Claim?

I've been in a pretty bad crash in my S2000, and I'm trying to find out how much my insurance will go up if I claim it. If you can post, it will really help me out.

Please let me know how much your insurance went up. If you can give details, that would also help- like how much you paid before and after the accident, and how much your claim was. I don't need exact figures, either. Just estimate.

The damages to my car are just over $7,000, but sometimes the shop will give a better price if the owner has to pay. I'm not sure if this is possible in my case.

Insurance is very expensive because I live in Hollywood. Around $2,500 per year, with a clean record! I shopped around, too. I had to go with an internet insurance company to get this price. That's why I'm worried about making a claim.

I had a total loss on my first one, plus some collateral damage (including a USPS mailbox for $960!), total must have been close to $40k. My insurance before was about 2400/year, it went up to 2800 afterward, now after I turned 25, it dropped down to 1300. Not too bad!

It was my first claim with this company, and I've been with them for about 8 years.

chengpeng-

Indeed, that is not to bad. I hope that if I claim this accident, I will be as fortunate. Do you mind if I ask what insurance company you were with at the time?

-Pete

One of my concerns is that the insurance company I am with is esurance, an internet company, and I am worried about their service when it comes to claims.

Does anyone have any experience with the esurance company?

I'm with Hanover Lloyds, but I go through them through an ins. broker service that I've had forever! My next door neighbor at the time worked for that company, and got me connected. The best quotes I can seem to find from Geico or Progressive are at least double what I'm paying.

Damn, $2500 a year is mucho high for a clean record. I pay $73/month, but of course, it's on my sister's name. I love her! She's so good to me. My whole family is so good to me, treating me like a king...hehe... But that's besides the point.

Will that accident leave a damage report on your title? God, I hope so, for the sake of later owners.

chengpeng- Thanks!

EnigmaticS2K- Yes. The insurance costs are terribly high in my location. And hopefully, no one else will ever own my S2000. Even after this crash, I don't plan on giving it up. I kept my last car for over 23 years!

chengpeng-

Man, if I wasn't enrolled in school for the next two years, I'd move to TX!

That's how I feel, too!

Did you see the photos, though? The crash was pretty bad.

I wonder if you think they are charging me too much for the damages?

I'm trying to find out what others have paid for these kind of repairs, but it's really difficult. I'm really just trying to figure out whether to insurance claim, or not. I know that there are no easy answers, and I will lose a lot of money, either way.

The worst part of this whole mess is that I wasn't even driving fast or anything. I have no way to rationalize this terrible incident.

I love my poor car very much, and I want it to be fixed right, because I want to keep it. Can you relate?
