Default How smooth is your steering wheel?

So, I was driving my S2K today and felt something rough/wrinkled leather on lower side of my steering wheel. It feels like an old person's skin, dried and wrinkled. WTF? My car is less than year old and has 1K miles on it. The leather on my steering wheel shouldn't wrinkle like this. The wrinkle is 3inches long. This bothers me a lot, smooth steering wheel all around then at the bottom, wrinkled leather....

First what cause of this and is it fixable? Better yet, is it cover under warranty?

What do you think?

If it goes beyond normal wear I would expect it tobe covered.

My steering wheel has lots of scapes on the bottom left side because I always have a pen in my right pocket, and sometimes when I'm getting in the pen clip scrapes against the wheel. Maybe you had a pen in your pocket? Or a pager/cell phone clipped to your belt?

Well, I don't carry a pen or cellphone on my right front pocket. More closer examination, I don't think the wrinkle is due to "rubbing" or "earrings".

I can take some pictures but don't know how to show them here.

Alright... For those of you who cares....

I just got back from Livermore Honda. They are replacing it under warranty. One of their master mechanics inspect the steering wheel and noticed wrinkle starting on another location.

I just hope they will do a good job replacing it.

I'm sure the warranty work will go just fine. They'll just take that steering wheel off and put another one on. When you get the car back just look over it really carefully and make sure they didn't mark up any other interior peices.

Try rubbing it back and forth vigorously for a minute or two. Mine gets much longer and harder and the wrinkles pretty much go away.
