Definitely agree with you. I don't believe in financing when possible. BUT at the same time, I definitely DO NOT believe in spending all of my available cash on a depreciating asset. (I know S2000 keeps its value quite well, it is still categorized as a car and therefore, a depreciating asset)

I'll just have to save up for a bit longer to have some buffer money. Appreciate the input! (It's good to be a baller like you man, along with everyone else here!)

But you shouldn’t be financing a depreciating asset. And yes, don’t drain your cash reserves for a car Be patient and maybe you’ll come across a stellar deal.

For sure, I'm giving myself until the summer of 2019 to find a proper Honda S2000. Like I said, it's just a toy for me, I don't need it, so I'll take my time with the purchase.

I definitely won't be financing an used car, I wanted you fine folks to back me up on the idea and so you have! Thank you

However, I will give the exception to the "financing a depreciating asset" when it comes to a new car. Especially if you can get a good rate. A luxury-ish new car is approaching $40,000. In that case, I may elect to finance it because $40,000 (or whatever your "new car" budget is) can go a long way towards a home instead.

I paid cash cause so cheap. nothing wrong with investing and financing at low APR though. definitely end up with cash in pocket financing at low APR and collecting $$$ from investing the cash. lever up when it makes sense!!!

I’ll throw the other side of the coin...

Financed, cause money is cheap. 3.99% is still well below what most people can make in the market. So, time-value of money, it makes sense to hold your cash, let the bank pick up the tab.

What do I know, though...

Question: If you found a Honda S2000 at a major Honda dealer, they didn't have financing options? Or maybe they weren't attractive enough?

Or perhaps, you're just a baller like that
