Default If you had $5000 to spend...

I have a 2001 S2000 that is relatively stock with the exception of a K&N intake and front strut bar, both of which came on it when I purchased it.

I want to get into auto cross, but nothing to serious, just for fun. If you were me, what would you spend 5K on? I still want to be able to be somewhat comfortable driving on the street.

GO..........

I agree with the others. Just have fun with the car as it is with good tires. It is plenty capable if you are just looking to have fun. You'll have money in savings for when you break stuff or if you want to take driving classes.

It seems like many people say get 17x9 wheels. What size tires with those? It looks like maybe that will be a tight fit?

I have been auto crossing for 15 years and for the past 6 years with an '03 s2000 in STR- I'm in it for the fun and have a ball with an underpreped STR car. I assume you have ALL maintenance on point...so...
1. RE71R Tires and square 17 inch AP2V1 OEM rims. ($1100 +/-). Aggressive autocross alignment ($200+/-)
2. Autocross school ($200+/-)
3. Karcepts front bar ($900)
4. K and N intake (because VTEC goes BWAAAA) ($300)
5. helmet ($300+/-)
so, I've spent $3000 of your dollars for you. Save the rest for relentless maintenance and entrance fees.
good luck and see you on course.
