Import s2000
Has anyone imported an s2000 from the UK? I have been researching and am familiar with the 21 and 25 year rules so the first ones are becoming eligible by default.

This may help. I would assume it would be the same as importing a car from Japan. Shouldn't be too much of a hassle since the same model was cleared for sale in US already. Could be wrong though.
This is a broad article on it:
Importing A Vehicle Into the US - Across The Sea (motortrend.com)
Since the vehicle is less than 25 years old it must conform to National Highway Transportation Safety Administration NHTSA standards. You would have to fill out Form HS7
The relevant NHTSA page:
Importing a Vehicle | NHTSA
Vehicles which conform:
elig123109.pdf (nhtsa.gov)
The emissions are not an issue since it is over 21 years old as I understand the documents (some production years). Not sure if I am reading it correctly.
The relevant Environmental Protection Agency page:
Learn About Importing Vehicles and Engines | US EPA
Seems easiest to wait until the vehicle is 25 years old and the process is simpler and less expensive.

Curious what's the reason (perhaps sentimental?) to import an old 2003 pre-facelift S2000 with the steering wheel on the wrong side (or is being different the reason?) into an undisclosed US state which may require emissions testing regardless of the import requirements? As @Scigheras notes it almost seems that most of these are rust buckets -- photos of some of these posted here almost make me weep.
Local headlight ordinances may require these be replaced as their aim direction is designed to blind oncoming drivers when driven on the right side of the road. Guys in the UK have this problem when taking their cars over to the Continent.

I started out just looking at different colors for different regions. I don't really like any of the non-metallic/non-pearl colors in the US Market. It seems the UK price market is quite a bit lower.
Here is an example. 2006 50K miles, looks like OEM lip, 18.5K pounds (23.5K USD)
2006 Blue Honda S2000 2.0 i-VTEC Roadster Convertible 2dr Petrol Manual (237 g/km, 236 bhp) for sale for £18,495 in PURLEY, BOROUGH OF CROYDON (autotrader.co.uk)

I agree Royal Navy Blue Pearl and Monza Red Pearl are stunning. But I think Lime Green is hideous and I don't like yellow or orange in any variety. Yeah, a matter of taste and disposable income especially if you're jumping thru the import hoops.
As you can tell by my pictograph my car is Silverstone but I kinda wish it was Moonrock which shows as an EU color (but not UK?) or at least Chicane Silver which has very little presence in the US.
Keep in mine the UK cars all have AP1 engines and don't seem to have tunable ECUs, cruise control, or VSA. (I could be wrong on some or all of these.)
