Installed Injen CAI...did I do it right?

I installed my new Injen CAI this weekend. Everything went really well. Posts of previous installers and tips really helped. (buying the 5/16" hose and extra clamp helped a lot) I did try installing without taking the bumper off at first, but just succeeded in bending the filter some trying to get it in the hole. After I bit the bullet and took the bumper off, everything else went smoothly. Took about 3 1/2 hours total. I have a question/concern though. The extra power and torque is definitly there. :D I can't get it to bog even if I try now. But the sound has me concerned. I've heard others talk about the "new sound" of CAI but I assumed it would be like air rushing sound. Instead what I have is a loud vibrating sound at WOT, which is ok if that's what it's supposed to sound like. Just totally different than I expected. How can changing and Air filter create such a sound? Is this sound normal or could there be something wrong? I checked all my connections and bolts and everything still seems tight. Thanks for your input.

That's not a great description but it sounds about right. Does the noise change from a rumble to a screaming rumble when you hit VTEC. If so, that's it. :D

If it sounds like the car is flatulating loudly at 6k rpms when the VTEC crossover occurs, then it's perfectly normal.. :p

This is an update on my Injen install. Now that I've had it for about a week I absolutley love it! Engine feels a lot smoother and stronger, especially down low, and the I now think the sound is awesome. (now that I know it's supposed to sound like that.) A mechanic friend told me that with the Injen you can hear more of the engine noise coming out through the filter, unlike the stock filter that muffles the sound (and the air.) That's where the sound comes from, and it sounds wonderful. No need for me to think about an exhaust, the Injen sound is enough for me. $200+ and a few hours work, absolutley no reason not to do it. If you're thinking about it, STOP THINKING and DO IT! :D

you know i used to think stock sound was awesome, until i got the HKS exhaust....then i thought nah i dont need the intake.....now the AEM intake is coming on tuesday...

Just saying how you see things differently over time.

I also just install and HKS exhaust and Ijen CAI. Unfortunately I have this high picth humm from the air filter. Is this normal. Do I need to oil it like and K&N? Hopefully someone can help me... Thanks in advance.

The Injen comes pre-oiled. There is a label indicating this on the bag. An unoiled K&N (type) filter is white before the first oiling. The reddish color is the filter oil. It is colored to assist in even spray coverage.

The whistle is irritating but seems to go away about 3k rpm.
