I use that line myself when they seem to start getting jealous of the car due to my age, etc. I'll happily point out that it costs about the same as their SUVs, too.

What is wrong with saying it IS a Honda? I love Honda and have always owned Hondas since I can remember. They have a race backed history that is worth bragging rights over any other company. I am proud to say I own a HONDA s2000....don't know about others but I love my car and I love Honda...

I think that it's funny when my coworkers start asking me how I could afford such a fancy car, I tell them "it's just a Honda" and then point out that it didn't cost as much as their big pickup truck. The looks that I get after that are priceless.

To me, anybody telling you: "It's only a Honda" probably has an inferiority complex and is trying to "get on top" by putting you and your car choice down.
I think that the replies given above are dead on. Just like the Phaeton owner will do, too.... Yeah, it's a VW, cute ha?
