JDM Type-R?

I just saw this over on vtec.net's model release matrix:
Fall 2001:
Glass rear window, door tweeters, improved transmission action, slight interior trim changes, a few color changes. JDM Type R model w/increased displacement & torque(??)

This is news to me (JDM Type-R I mean). Anyone else heard such a rumor?
