Just bought a s2k shell
I can't decide if I want to keep it or sell it. It needs a engine. What do you guys think? Is it worth putting money into? |
Pics? If it's in good shape I'd K swap it. Bout the same price as an F motor....
|
I'd look at it from a financial investment standpoint, so it depends on how much you paid for the shell. If it is significantly less to go this route rather than buying an S2000 that's ready to go, then I think it's worth it.
|
Kind of depends on why you bought it? Really want to restore a car that really fun to drive & enjoy? Go for it. Trying to rebuild a car to flip? Maybe not. Top dollar S's are the original ones, matching VIN #'s, etc. Is it a high demand color combo?

Certainly better in terms of availability. But so is a LS V8 motor and we know that will fit.

The K series is a better motor than the F20/F22?

Yeah, more mod friendly and a lot more options for power. Parts are more available and HPD support if you're getting into competition.
True or false? |

I read somewhere that although the F20/F22 are reliable, high revving, and etc. It's pretty much maxed out from factory. And that the only way to REALLY get more juice out of it is forced induction.

Like other's have said it all depends on how much you got the shell for and if the full build out will be cheaper and worth the time and work rather than getting a ready to go s2000. I also would say it's better to k swap the car as it would cost almost as much to get an f20/f22 replacement and if the motor ever were to go bad again there are many k24's going for under $800 unless you live in a state where emissions is difficult.
