Default Leather Voodoo Shift Knob

Ok, I searched for this, maybe I just couldn't find it but.....

Has anyone ever taken a VooDoo and had it covered in leather.? I bought a magnum polished Voodoo a few months ago and I absolutely love the way it shifts, falls in my hand, height, etc.... But I got to thinking that with it being so cold lately I missed my stock knob with the leather section. I put it back on today and it just doesn't feel as nice as it used to, I've gotten really accustomed to the Voodoo.

I'm either thinking of going to an upholstery shop or asking if there's anyone out there that has done this. No, I don't want a "sock" I'd like my custom knob to have the tight stiched leather like the stock one does.

Rick are you watching??? Input would be great

Have tried it. It can be done though not easily (unless you're a big manufacturer).

I have the info on how I did it here somewhere. It was a couple of years ago. PM me if you want it and I'll dig it out for you.

This is not correct information. Our leather "knob socks" do fit the Magnum sized Voodoo knobs.

Here is a photo of your stock shift knob with leather dissected. Most of your leather wrapped
stock shifter is 'inexpensive' steel with a bolted on top.

Adding leather to our Voodoo shifters is problomatic because they are SOLID.
It seems AHM may have arrived at the same conclusion.

hmmm, yes, my search brought up your thread and I saw the picture above...part of what made me really rather wrap my Voodoo than countersink my knob just like above. Looks like you guys found that bit of info out while trying to make it lower.

Momo: I've considered that but I prefer that the Voodoo screws down on the threads instead of using a set-screw.

Muz: Thanks, I'll PM you to see what you came up with.

So am I the only one with the crazy notion that the VooDoo would be even better covered?

I decided to email VooDoo Bob about this, I will post his response after gaining permission (just in case). But in essence he has tried this idea in the past, and either it would come out like the picture above (which I agree with him would take away from the feel) or be too complex to do properly.

Thanks Rick for checking this out, please let me/us know if you come up with something, guess I'll either have to invest in that set of driving gloves or just accept the warm-up time
