I was driving south bound on route 53 towards Schaumburg, cruising at about 75, suddenly I look in my rear view mirror, I saw an Eclipse barely 20 feet behind me. Kind of taunting to play

Sev...
Once we hit it off, I was about 10 - 12 car length ahead throughout the way, until I slowed down, about 3/4 miles before my exit.
He seemed like a cool guy though, he waived and through a peace sign as he drove by.

Overall i have to say that, if an Eclipse owner throughs roughly 3-4k into some practicle engine mods for their ride, they can probably beet a stock Eclipse.
What do you guys think...Don't get me wrong, I love my S2000 but the Eclipses can be upgraded somewhat pretty inexpensively compare to the S2000 upgrades...

Thanks for sharing your story.
Those Eclipses are fast cars, especially in the AWD form....they shouldn't be underestimated. With AWD and 210 turbocharged horsepower, they're already very quick off the showroom floor, especially launching it at stoplights. With some mods, they can be even faster.

Ok thanks,
Yup those ecplipses are DAMN fast. I ran a 14.440 with a 1993 eagle Talon TSi AWD when i used to own it. A friend of mine just opened the intake cover and ran a 13.991 on a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.
They are really fast, but they are a little slow at highway speeds because of the way they are geared. The one you ran against is probably much faster then a stook on the 1/4, he probably had a lot more boost and possible an aftermarket turbo kit...
Anyways, i am sure you would have done better with the top up.
Nonethless, nice race.
