Replace it with an S02 or replace all 4. Mismatching tires would likely mean a wreck for you. It would be ESPECIALLY bad to mismatch rear tires, nearly as bad to mismatch both front vs both rear.

Honestly, if you can't put up $280 (I think you can find them cheaper though) for maintenance on the car, you're probably in over your head and should look into something cheaper.

it is fine to use different tire on the front then the rear, but DEFINATELY don't put a different tire on one side of the rear then the other side. That is a big no no and will likely lead to a continuation of your current problem and premature wear on your LSD...

Look around for a better price, that sounds pretty steep to me. I would think it should cost around 200 for that tire but honestly don't know for sure. And make sure it is the right kind of S02. Yes, there are different kinds.

Do yourself a favor and give Jim @ Tirerack a call. He will give you a reasonable price and make sure you get exactly what you need. Jim is a good guy and a lot of us S2000 owners buy through him.

EDIT: Tirerack has the rear tires listed at $177 each

Tires are the most expensive thing on the S. Flats suck, but hazard warranties will protect the tire. The trade off is between an $$$ tire to begin with, and short tire life (11-17k mi).

With 6k miles on you old tire, you are really at the point where you need to get a new rear set.
