Low Mile '04-'05 vs Higher Mile '06+

All valid opinions posted above. For me, I went with a 2004 because I wanted to avoid DBW, and I found a great condition low mileage example. My experience with DBW in this time frame of Hondas was with my 2006 Accord Coupe V6 Manual and I never wanted anything to do with it again. Yeah, it's subtle, but it's there and for me it's clearly inferior to drive by cable, especially for a car like the S2000 which was meant to be the definition of a pure, unmolested driving experience. Now, I don't doubt that the DBW on the S2000 might be better than my experience in the Accord. Also for me I had no interest in modifying my car in any way such as installing Flashpro. I just want to drive the car in the condition that Honda made it. I agree that miles can be deceiving, but all else equal (same driving conditions) I consider the difference between 50,000 miles and 25,000 miles to be quite substantial. Just my opinion, but I would definitely go for the lowest mileage, best condition example available regardless if it's an AP2 v1 or v2 as the differences between them are pretty subtle. Bottom line - different strokes for different folks - only you can decide what you want.

Thank you.
I am down to two now: 1) '04 with 15K miles, 1 owner, or 2) '08 with 25K miles, 2 owners... Both very clean. Price differential is about $3K.
Any thoughts?

I say the '08. Its 4 years newer so the rubber parts are fresher. Seals, bushings, etc. Maybe 3k worth in a few more years. I don't know what I said is even valid or not just talking out of my A$$. But the point is there are many ways to spin the advantages and disadvantages. You'll have to go with the one you really like best. The 2008 has a slight suspension tweak toward the firmer side. Would you notice by driving. I don't know. I was always curious though. The 2008 also has the daytime running lights and is essentially the last year made. That has a nice ring to it as the car ages and no more are being made.

04
Personally, I'd buy the 04 as long as it was a color combo that I liked. If not, I would hold out until I found what I wanted. I thought you had stated a preference for the DBW model years — in which case the 08 would seem like the logical choice in your case. Either one would be a fun car to own.

It all comes down to what "YOU" want from the car. I have a MY03 and a MY06, both cars are extremely fun but I like the feedback and raw feeling of the earlier car more. Just my thoughts but I would drive both and see which one will speak to you better, you will know. Good luck.
