When cleaning my car the other day, I noticed some bubbling/melting in my headlights. Both headlights have them but in different spots. It's on black plasic in the bottom of the headlight housing. It's kinda hard to explain what it looks like, but here it goes....One side looks like the plastic is "blistered" and the other side looks more like it was melted.

I took it to the dealership and they are going to order new headlights for me, but has anyone else had this problem?

Just curious because it seems odd that both headlights are "defective".

 

Yes, a lot of people have this problem. I think the design of the headlights will just cause the bubbling to occur again. One of my headlights has a bubble in it. I'm just waiting for the other one to develop one so I can get them both replaced at the same time. I know Mingster and twohoos also have this problem with their lights.

We're guessing that it's not the HID temperature that's causing it. It might be a reflection from the optics, causing the sun to create the bubbles.

 

I wanted to clear the headlight few weeks ago, but one of my friend who works at Honda body shop said I might end up voiding the warranty and it might cause bubbles too, so I plan to go get a pair of JDM headlights instead (from some Junk-yard markets in HK) should be pretty cheap too.--- also side -maker.

this problem is often to bulbs. i would suggest to go for HIDs. they are much useful than ordinary and very effective at night times

FYI, This is caused by the sun and the lens in the HID housing, not the bulbs. Sun hits the lens, and it directs it towards the plastic.

 

No kidding. Coming back from the dead.

PS just buy a new set of headlights. Clearing them yourself is a PITA
