Met an M3 racer on the plane yesterday -- he's giving me a set of Hoosiers

On a business trip back from Elmira, New York, which has the closest airport to Watkins Glen, I sat next to a great guy who races M3's and was returning to Seattle after competing in a race at Watkins Glen. We talked up a storm about the S2000, which he has driven and loves. He told me that BMW provides lousy support for the racing community and that Honda is a much more supportive company. He obviously had driven the S2000 because he knew way too much about its handling characteristics. He told me he's thinking seriously about racing an S2000 next year.
He urged me to take a weekend SCCA-sanctioned driving course to hone my skills and then -- much to my surprise and joy -- took my business card so he could have his Hoosier supplier send me a free set of tires for running my baby on the track. All I have to do is pay the shipping costs. Is this good luck or what? I hope he was not BSing me.

Before moving to AZ I lived 2 miles from the Watkins Glen track. I can recall pulling into the local IGA and seeing 9 Ferarris parked out front. You will meet some eally nice people that race there. I have high hopes your tires will be sent.

Nice encounter, Rick!
I will be be at the Glen July 11-12 for a 2-day performance driving class with Tim S2K and will make it a point to drop byt the local IGA for photo ops!
