I am seriously considering getting the MG filter. Though what holds me back is its filtering capability.

Its documented that the JR and the K&N and the others filter down to such a level...say X microns. Is there any documentation on the Polyester filters? Im not trying to start a war here or flaming. Im trying to make an educated decision. Both fit fine and both look good just one has a totally new style of filtration and im currious if there are any numbers to back it up with.

Thanks very much for your input. NO FLAMING PLEASE!

Pinky,

I'd be interested in the same, but also in airflow numbers. One may filter smaller particles, but if it won't flow as much air, you may end up losing performance.

Hi Pinky-

All filters will filter out particles of x microns- even to the smallest size. The trick is to get the filter manufacturer to tell you what percentage of x microns they filter out- the efficiency, so to speak, of filtering power for each size of particulate. I laugh every time I see some filter manufacturer say they filter at 10 microns or whatever they want to claim... the statement clearly fails to say the efficiency- definitely more marketing hype there than substance.

Currently the best filter element on the market is the K&N system, which is why a majority of the race teams in motorsports use them. Consider the fact that K&N doesn't make a kit specifically for the S2000, and that the stock filter element is already very free flowing and also very efficient in the stock airbox, I don't see how you will get *significantly more* there without replacing/modifying the airbox inlet to get the coldest air possible from in front of the radiator.
