Mileage anxiety
Does anyone suffer from mileage anxiety? Meaning you are scared to drive your car to keep the miles low or avoid something breaking? I mostly don't wanna drive because I'd like to resell it and still make a decent return on what I spent. But it's hard because I wanna drive it every day.

Wait, what? Unless you have a sub 10000 mile car just drive the damn thing!
|
Drive it! If you want a return on something buy land. I’ve got 175k on mine and loved every mile. |
Without sounding too hateful...
Only poor people do what you're describing. Who TF cares how much value you retain? You're still bleeding money out of every orifice. |
I bought a car with 130k intentionally so I wouldn't be tempted to keep the miles low.

Sucks we cant hide the mileage like you can on an 8th gen civic. Out of sight, out of mind.

if you have a sub 10K mile s2000, sell it for $40K, then buy one with 60K miles.
otherwise, a car is a terrible investment- at best you'll break even. I drove my 2003 s2000 for 35K miles and sold it for $2000 more than I paid for it 7 years prior- all the while spending nearly $10K on insurance, tires, entry fees, and maintenance. I understand your hesitation, but I favour the driving experience over all else meaning miles add to my enjoyment of life. darcy |
Heh, I thought I'd logged back into the Leaf forums for a second. An S2000 is depreciation-resistant, and may even go up at some point, but I'd rather lose a few thousand and have fun than make a 1-2,000 and rob myself of the joy.

You're worried about residual value on a car worth somewhere around $10-15k? what.
