missed buying an s2000

its my 2nd post do not sure if this is the right topic... so here goes

im kickin myself for missing on buying a cherry 2002 suzuka s2k matter of fact its still on the the ads since the seller hasn't pulled it out yet. here it is

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?...leadExists=true

my question is did i just fubar myself for not pulling the trigger on it or its not the best deal out there... here are the facts:

pro:
60k miles, 1st owner, most records, carfax came back clean, clean body.

con:
no test drive so wasnt able to ascertain condition of clutch and shift dogs, rear tires did not match the front, and i believe at $18k the car was a little high on the miles regardless of the condition.

so how much you think would have been a fair price for this car? the kbb on it was

18k excellent
17k good
16k poor.

im in san francisco california. let the flaming begin

Patience. thats key. If the s2000 is what you want, you'll eventually get it. I waited 6 years and bought 2 cars before finally finding the one I wanted.

Price is decent but it seems someone was willing to pay that.

dont worry man, there'll be others, most likely better too. Most s2ks are well taken care of because of the nature of the owners. but I think that blue interior is ugly and would make me throw up everytime I got in the car. But keep lookin, theres normally alot for sale in SoCal.

i agree dont just jump on the first one that you see your best bet is to shop around a bit and see what one you like

i agree, patience is key. when its the right one, it will all happen right. i know cars retail a little higher out that way but i think you can find even a better buy for the money if you wait.

Really that's not a good deal. I bought my 2002 last November at Carmax for the same price and a couple thosand miles extra.

If you're unfamiliar with Carmax, they basically replace anything and everything to get it in perfect condition again (like a certified preowned). So for my $18k I got a new top with glass, entirely new stock exhaust from header back, K&N FPIK, felt like a brand new clutch, 30 day free warranty, all new fluids, and 5 days money back guarentee if I decide I don't like it. No haggling so I can decide which is best and say "I want that one". How can you say no to all of that?

hmm carmax ill look that up right now thanks for all the feedback ill keep looking at the ads .. so when you say you got your car at carmax at 18k that was OTD right?

I hope they put in the correct differential fluid...

I think you can find better than that truthfully. Its a decent deal regardless, but for comparison, I got my 2002 38k with 3m clear bra for 17k. I just bought it January 07. Good luck in your search.

Patience will be rewarded. I've been wanting one for four years and just recently got one. You'll "know" if it's the right one for you.
