Default Mom doesn't agree with the s2000.

Basic breakdown of whats happening. My dad encourages me to get the S2000. My mom on the other hand doesn't want me to have a manual sports car. If I'm paying for most of it, how come I can't choose my own car then?
I have argued constantly with her, and she isn't going to agree with me buying a used s2k. I've also told her that the insurance is almost the same as the 08 Si. Any suggestions to help me out?

*sorry for the post being so long*

Its a Honda, so its reliable and well built. Also has a 4 cyl so it gets pretty good gas mileage. It also has some of the best crash test ratings for convertibles. 5 stars for everything including roll overs.

And yea if that doesn't work you can always threaten your own life, like was previously mentioned

well ...your dad wants u to get it cuz he is a guy and he will get to drive it, your mom is concerned with your well-being,......and as much as u dont want to hear it,....if your parents have anything to do with your car, accept what you can get and enjoy it, before you know it you will be 30 and have gone through 5 or more cars. no kid should have a 30k dollar car, even if it is "used"...its still a high end car.
sure you will be a "baller" with a pimp ride and pull all sorts of booty, but you will want a new car a year,....dont start off with the cream of the crop, build your way to it through civics and other lower end cars so you know what you have when you finally acquire the s2000,....or whatever it is when its time to upgrade.

Well Bob...you didn't mention how long you've had your drivers' license. My advice depends on how long you've been driving and your skill level (and objective skill as in "I have been racing karts for 8yrs and have a wall of trophies"...not a 16yo "I know how to drive" opinion).

The s2k is not kind or forgiving to average drivers who push the limits.

If you are an inexperienced driver, you may want to consider your mom's opinion more carefully. And if you feel you must buy one, then get one with stability control, which only came on cars made in 2006 and after.

I guess your right, my mom's a little too protective over me, but I've been told on this site never settle anything less then you want.

Because you're not paying for all of it.
If you can afford "most" of it and your own insurance, forget what the parents think, wait until you can afford all of it, and do what you want.
Or choose to be a momma's boy...

Laying down on the floor kicking and screaming still works for me.
