Welcome revhigh! I was in the same boat in my thinking. While driving muscle cars since the 60's, I also found the S2000 refreshing to drive...so I bought one. Don't forget to register your car here at the forum. Enjoy your new car and we hope you'll take part in our discussions here. See you on the boards. -Ken

I have owned many hi power cars, and have owned a Corvette resto business on the side since 1982. I have done one ground up from C1-C3, including an LS6 454/425HP 1971 which won Bloomington Gold.
Anyway, I agree with what you wrote - the S2000 has somethiong that appeals to me as a more mature driver and enthusiast - the combo of precision craftmanship and a razor sharp drivetrain andf suspension. I like the feel of a lighter car, loved my NSX, and there is no replacing alfresco (open air) driving when conditions are right, of which Spring and Fall here in the Old Dominion should provide plenty of opps.

I agree the S2000 is a wonderful machine and one of the most enjoyable to drive. I have wanted one since they came out and finally broke down and bought one. I love to drive it but there is also a place in my heart for big V8 rumble. Thats why I also have a 450hp GMC Sierra C3 and a 400ci '65 Chevelle SS. Everyone has its pros and cons and I wouldn't give up any of them. It is nice to swap from one to the other from time to time just so you can appreciate all the great things that make them different. Happy motoring and congrats on the new ride!

having had high hp/torque V8's I do miss the torque they provide..
my other vehicle is a 4 liter V6 Explorer 4x4.. it's fun to switch between them, using both for their purposes, (off roading in the 4x4) and clipping an apex in the S2000...

Congrats, and welcome to the forum. I too appreciate V8 power and torque, and enjoy traditional American muscle. The S2000 is very different and very fun. The best of both worlds might be a small-displacement V8, that revs high and yet still provides torque. But those seem to only be available in the highest dollar Italian exotics at the moment.

Wow!
I was thinking that all the "Muscle Heads" were stuck on V-8s and torque.
I am truely suprised to see so many old schoolers who have had both AND still respect the S.
I guess the LS1 forum guys (a friend of mine) have been getting to me.
There is a great feeling of satisfaction knowing we have half the cylinders, less than half the displacement but still keep fender to fender with most any of 'em. You can argue about modified big muscle, but then we have Turbos and Superchargers too.
ALL HAIL TECHNOLOGY!

Welcome, revhigh -
What a great intro - A true car enthusiast like yourself is a welcome addition to the board. Great username, too - captures the spirit of the S. Now if you could swap that name intermittently with something like 'turncarver', you would be there 100%.

I had two Vipers before my S (99 GTS, 03 SRT/10). Yes there are times I miss the huge torque band, but it isn't very often. The S2000 rocks, and my wife isn't afraid of it.
