I am glad you brought this thread back up! It is amazing to see that even after all the years you still came back to the s2000, especially with all the cars that came out in the 11 year gap.
Now that you own an AP2 and an AP1, have a preference on one over the other?

I do not have a preference. The high redline of the AP1 is enjoyable but the increased torque of the AP2 is useful. The suspension and handling is not that much different. I really did not care which model I ended up with. I was looking for a clean , stock, low mileage car. I found one and it happened to be an AP2.

Love this thread. When I first got interested in the S, I fell in love without ever having driven one. The engineering, the looks, it astounded me. So I finally go to test drive one. To be honest I was half hoping I wouldn't love it, as I knew the timing wasn't right. It would be another 12+ months before the stars aligned and I took one home. I hope to hit the 300k mile club. Only 210k to go...

Great thread, old school...
I have had supercharged mustangs and C6 Vettes. The S2000 is just a special car, it is difficult to describe to people that don't get it. Yes its the motor, 9k rpms and a surge of top end power. But it is also responsive at 3k rpms and AP2s are even better. Sure its light, but it feels lighter than 2700-2800lbs suggests. Why, because all the weight is pushed as low and to the center of the car. My C6 only weighed 3160lbs, but felt a lot heaver. To get the handling balance the transaxle must be moved to the rear, spreads out the weight and slows the response of the car. I mean really, how many front/mid engine cars have 50/50 weight distribution without a separate engine/transmission?
I am not going to lie, the C6 was a way better high mileage drive type car. But I can take road trips in my truck, as a drivers car the S2000 is difficult to beat.
