Default My 2004 S2000 came in last night

Hi everyone, my s2000 was finally delivered from California yesterday. Unfortunately it was below freezing in Chicago. So I took her for a spin and had a few questions.

This car has almost all the goodies on it, and I'm going to part the thing out and convert it to stock and buy a few choice mods I want.

Let me outline the mods on it before I go into problems. I want to part almost everything out so keep an eye out in the FS section.

AEM EMS
AEM V2 CAI
Eriks Big Bore TB 70mm
Port Matched & Polished Intake manifold (Will sell with the TB)
Hondata IMG
Toda Headers
Spugen Single Exhuast (don't know what kind but it has a blued tip)
Enkei RPF1s 18x??? (240/40 in the front and 255/35 in the back)

And some other parts non performance parts.

First of all I want to put the stock ECU back in there, he has a AEM EMS installed (don't know what version) and it was tuned at Church Automotive in Whittier, CA. I'm guessing he added a couple more items or the car wasn't tuned properly and has a few problems:

1. Temp Gauge is dead
2. No Cruise (He actually pulled out the control mechanisms and will mail them to me)
3. Car stalls on a cold start, have to feather the gas to warm it up then it's all good.
4. It's burning pretty rich

I want to know if I can just pull that ECU and switch it back to stock without any issues. Also, is there a DIY ECU guide available?

Eventually I will take pics of all the parts, everything will need to be traded since I'll have to replace one part for one of your stock parts. I'll browse around to judge pricing and such.

I was largely invovled in the Acurazine community for my TSX and look forward to s2ki.

1. Temp Gauge is dead

temp gauge doesn't work with aem ems.

once you put the stock ecu on, temp gauge will work again.

2. No Cruise (He actually pulled out the control mechanisms and will mail them to me)

I don't think many people use cruise control. it's sorta one of those things that you use once in a while...

3. Car stalls on a cold start, have to feather the gas to warm it up then it's all good.

maybe the plugs, or it could be the aem ems warm up start map. I would log in and check what's going on.

4. It's burning pretty rich

is this according to the wideband? what's the afr ratio? is this car turbo charged?

good luck.

Car is NA, I don't know much on how it was previously tuned (AFR and such).

I wouldn't imagine the ECU would need to warm up, but maybe. Hopefully it's the tuning.

Yea in Chicago I never use cruise control, but I do visit Champaign and Cincinnati regularly (140 and 320 miles) CC would be nice to have

He didn't mean the ECU needed to warm up, he meant that the fuel map for the car during the "warm up" phase may not be tuned properly for the cold weather you are starting it up in.

since you have it, just goto aempower.com and download the program, log in to the aem and do some runs and post up the logs.

when you put in the stock ECU you need to go to a dealer to map the keys with the immobilizer

Hmm, so just putting the stock ECU won't have the right key tied to it? It's the stock ECU that came with the car... he saved it.

I checked the DIY and nothing was in there for ECU removal

More than fixing the problem I want to part out this car and keep it stock. It's always more fun when I get to pick out the mods

Personally I've love the keep the header and the bored TB but we'll see if there are buyers I'll sell it.
