My S2000 Roll Over Accident

I was driving around 60 mph on a banked turn where the speed limit was 55, i know I know I was speeding. Anyways a woodchuck ran in front of me and I avoided it as my first instinct, lost control after hitting the gravel and flew off the road and rolled it three times. Both me and my passenger got out of the car on our own and walked away, car is totaled, but I do have a fractured skull and some fractured vertebrae in my neck. But I must say, this is one of the safest convertibles for roll over protection! So much that I will buy another one once winter is done.

I just wanted to post some pictures to hopefully show anyone that this is in fact a safe car and would recommend it to anyone. AND DON"T SWERVE FOR ANIMALS! I'd rather have replaced the front bumper than a whole new car.

This is the roll bar that saved my life

Wow, glad you're okay - I have a friend that also broke his neck swerving to avoid an animal.

Reckon 09-01-2010 05:55 AM

Wow, thank goodness you and your passenger are ok!!!

Sorry to hear about that - but at least you both are safe and the woodchuck survived!

It amazes me how well put together these cars are - not just for performance but for safety as well.

Hope your injuries don't get severe and hope you get a another S soon!

Cracked skull and vertebrae? Ouch, man, ouch.

But alive is better than dead anyday. Here is to a quick recovery.

Damn man that sucks. Glad your ok.

I don't swerve for animals, if the bastards are in the way I go through them.

sorry to hear that

if u could go back and do it again knowing if u would have hit the woodchuck u would not have been injured.

would you?

Glad you're ok. the car is replaceable while you are not.

WOW! You guys are very lucky. rolling a convertible doesn't always have a relatively happy ending.

I learned the hard way after sliding sideways on an interstate at 65mph to avoid a dog in the road and almost going over a bank that was 45% grade and filled with trees at the bottom....No animal is worth dying to avoid and most of the time, simple braking and praying that they little ####er moves is your best chance.

I ride motorcycles and this is what I have learned from near misses with deer. Swerving won't help because most of the time they change course just before impact anyway.

Next time, lay on the horn and hit the brakes, no swerving!

If I could do it again, I'd run the SOB over in a heartbeat. No animal is worth totaling an S2000 and getting sent to the hospital.
