Need some alignment help
I'm looking for some advice. Below is what I typically get, which was more for an autocross/street alignment. Now I really don't drive my car too much, other than HPDE's, to/from the track, an autocross here or there, and every once in a while to/from work. 7k miles in 18 months, and most of that was on the track, or to/from the track.
My car is bone stock with RE-01R's. When those wear out, I'll probably get something stickier for the track. I'm wondering if I should go with something a bit more agressive? Some people who don't own s2k's have suggested more camber and no toe. Not sure how you drive but I run these settings and tire wear is pretty good as far as wearing roughly flat.

I would go ahead and have them max out camber front and rear. Maybe a little less toe. I run zero toe up front. Actually, your rear toe looks pretty reasonable. I think I'd stick with that and maximize camber.

Yep, :iagree: I would go with zero toe in front and +1/8" total for rear is good.
Caster is fine, and Camber is alright. I have 2.5* on the rear and the tire wear on Direzza star specs is even. |
I say max your caster. I'm at 8 degrees and I love it. Here are my specs:
Final Specs: FRONT Camber: -1.0/-1.0 Caster: 8.0/8.0 Toe: 0/0 REAR Camber: -2.0/-2.0 Toe: 3/36" / 5/36" |

Max front camber ~1.8-2.0 Then work on caster ~ >6.0 Without a stiffer front bar, I'd keep a little rear toe in... Esp if you're going to stickier tires. I'd also keep an open mind to rear camber. It depends on your springs and your driving style, but keeping the rear camber ~2.0-2.5 (in the context of a stock front bar and front camber ~1.8) might help keep the rear end more planted. Wider, stickier tires with the same springs... Go for the 3+ negative rear camber. YMMV. |
Are S2000s particularly sensitive to alignment settings? In a Miata, a performance alignment can completely change the character and handling dynamics of the car. Is there a particularly popular alignment here?

i would set it to the cr alignment specs. then just dial in how much camber you want front and rear. i wouldn't go too aggressive camber wise if you are running stock suspension because you will have more body roll and even less traction with too much camber. i think tour camber is good. i have -1.5 camber up front, and -2.5 camber in the rear but i am lowered on tein flex's. dropped about 1.5- 2 inches lower than stock. i also am runnign the cr alignment, and i feel the it makes the car feel more stable a high speeds.

Yup. To get more front neg camber, you have to sacrifice some caster.
