New 2004 S2000 info from Honda

We just received the 04 info for changes in regards to the entire Honda line-up.
I am quoting the release for the S2000.
Changes:
Gear Ratios for 1-4 have been lowered
5th gear almost same
6th gear is a little lower

New Gear Ratio: Low 15.517, 2nd 10.126, 3rd 7.335, 4th 5.750, 5th 4.526, 6th 3.551. This gearing change will increase torque results in better acceleration and better fuel economy.

Exterior Changes:
New Brake Pads, Re-Styled Headlamps, Rear Brake Rotor Size up, Re-shaped Front Bumper, New 17" wheels, Damper and Suspension SPG Refinement, Re-shaped Rear Bumper, Re-styled rear lamps, Drive Shaft Change, Propeller Shaft Change, dual Mass Fly wheel, Tail Pipes.

Interior Changes:
Deeper Sculpted Doors, New Gauge Cluster, Re-styled steering wheel, Reshaped Roll (Where the start button and radio controls are located), restyled aluminum finish (dash).

Color:
Drop Spa Yellow Add Rio Yellow. All Red Interior to Red/Black.

That is all we have for now. Our District Manager is coming in on the 11th to tell us more and I hope show us actual pictures.

When are they supposed to start hitting the showrooms?

ngoldberg 08-04-2003 09:46 AM

We were told October by our district Manager 2 months ago and I have'nt been able to order one yet, so that seems acurate.

This seems very accurate being very similar, but more detailed then the other rumors. Thanks for the tips! :)

So does that mean no new engine? Just new gearing?

[Edit: I posted incorrect numbers is this post by mistake and started an unjustified hullabaloo.]

Anyway, I'm dying to see the new car.

Like I said, everything I put on here was a direct qoute. The engine is going from a 2.0 liter to a 2.2 liter.

[B]I don't doubt your info, but the gear ratio numbers sound rather odd, and don't seem to jive with the written info on the gearing changes.

Steve, I don't have any of the numbers to crunch myself, so could you check if you took the secondary reduction gear into account or not?
My numbers are potentially suspect, since I just found them on the web. I have no idea if there should be a adjustment for the secondary reduction gear; I couldn't find stats on this for either the current or the new car.

It strikes me as weird that Honda would combine lower gear ratios with a torquier, lower-revving engine; my guess is that "lower" in this case means numerically lower (i.e. taller). Wait and see, I guess...
