Default NO Car for me!

Well, I thought my car was in - but the dealer said it arrived with no Monroney sticker, and it had $0. Turns out it was an AHM car destined to be used as a trainer for Honda service techs somewhere! Well, that explains the low serial number (#29) - it was an early production unit that probably has been run hard and put to bed wet.

So, I am disapppointed - but my REAL car is also in the US and en route. So they tell me.

Anyone got the number for Hanley? I am getting antsy.

Dude, I couldn't have been more disappointed myself yesterday. I had been working with a guy on a deal for a new S2k for two days, and we finally got everything settled on yesterday afternoon. I had even given him all of my credit info and a deposit over the phone. So my wife and I rush home, drop our daughter at my parents, and make the 1 hour trek to the dealership to pick up my first S2k!

So we get there, and I am checking out the car in the showroom, it is beautiful. I am walking around it, checking for any damage, but it looks perfect. Then I look inside, and something doesn't look right...what's that...on the center console....just one cupholder???...no...it can't be....THIS IS A FRIGGIN MY03!!! The whole time I had been talking and dealing with this dude it was supposed to be on a MY04!!!

I should have known. For some reason, I had a feeling it wasn't going to work out. So I got my deposit back, and my wife and I drove an hour back home in my 99 Accord, not quite the same.

Good news is, I have a solid deal worked out with the guy I have bought my last few Hondas from. My Silverstone/Black is in production, and should be here before Christmas. At least this time I know I will be getting the right year, and it will be fresh off the truck.

So, I feel your pain Road Rage.

Andy

RR, man I probably would've went postal on the dealer. If you are half as anxious as I am about getting the 04, then I can definitly see how this is disappointing.

My dealer in Ohio called me ahead of schedule and said they got it early. I thought it was too good to be true so I went to the dealer to check it out.

Sure enough, it's MY04 #1307. Taking delivery this weekend. That's still too long for me to wait.

My dealer traded with another dealer while the car was still on the boat so it was dropped shipped right to my dealer, with 5 miles on it. Worked really well b/c I didn't have to order from Honda, and still got it fresh off the boat.

Good luck man, all your patientence will be worth it, I promise.

That sucks, you just cant catch a break. Not to mention once you look outside today. Hope you get your car soon before bad weather starts kicking in. I need someone on this side of town to tear up the streets with.

Yeah, first my Berlina turned into a Suzuka, now my Silverstone turns out to be a phantom. Maybe my Guardian Angel is trying to tell me something? Should I listen?

I told the dealer to get it right - if the next time "my car" comes in and is less than 100% perfect and able to be purchased, I will walk, and order somewhere else.

Heck, I may just wait until March or April since the car will sit most of the winter. it will take me months to reach 600 miles, and years to reach oil change miles (ha ha), and probably I will be dead before I reach synoil miles.

I am stoic about things like this though - too much else to worrry about, like the 4 contractors fixing my house from the Hurrican isabel damage - yesterday, i arrived home and found two of them literally fighting in my front yard ober who had put more stuff int he dumpster. I mean, really! Who needs that shiznit, and an elusive roadster to boot?

And then, depression set in...

I think I'll go read The Raven to cheer me up.

"Quoth the Dealer - nevermore!".

At least im not the only one still trying to get my house fixed. You dont have a decent roofer do you? ive had 4 seperate people agree to take the job, and then just back out for various reasons, each one wasting more and more of my time. For now i have a temporary patch holding (its only a small hole) but i would like to get it fixed soon.
