curious if you guys don't full latch the top for quick stops...say you're going to the mall and you want to raise the top and lock the doors, but it's easier to not lock the latches so when you come back you can just lower the top right away. anybody see any potential problems?

 

nope i do that too.....unless someone really wants to get into your car, its hard to get that to move far enough to reach a hand in and unlock the door.

it makes as much sense as leaving the windows half way up/down so when you come back to the car, you don't have to wait the extra 1.5 secs for them to go fully down!

hmm..ok..whatever....if i'm going to run into the mall for 10 minutes and don't want a bird shitting on my seats or somebody accidentally/intentionally throwing something inside the car or whatever i see i have two options

A. put the top up, lock the latches
B. put the top up, don't lock the latches

B is faster, less effort and it seems it might actually save some wear and tear on the latch locking mechanism.

who wouldn't want a fully automated top, and this is my "solution" for short stops. yes, i'm lazy.

i guess you can say it's lazy...but the way i look at it what is the benefit of locking the latch for a short stop?

there is a small gap, so yes, there is a chance that something might get in there, but very unlikely (if no rain, etc.)
i guess somebody could pry the top back....but if they're going to do this, they probably would have just cut the top off if it was lock

so i don't really see it as "lazy" since there's no real disadvantage in my book....

does anybody know if the 350z, z3/z4/miatas are fully automated?

 

i don't do it....even when i leave it at my office all day. no need to latch it. even if it might drizzle. the rain won't get in. It's not because i am lazy.. it's just easier to jump in and hit the down instead of reaching over to unlatch it.

hmmm.. maybe it is because i am lazy.. haha

 

i never lock the latches but then again, i never park in a place where my car is accessible to others. No need to give someone a chance to F with your car for no good reason.

I don't put the top up very often... if it's only going to be a couple of minutes - there are times when I haven't used the latches...

I do feel better having a proximity sensor alarm!
