Default Ok Stock 16's 17's 18's which is faster Acceleration

Ok what wheels have the best Diameter for 0 to 100mph?? 16s 17s 18inch wheels. Has anyone experienced loss of speed with bigger diameter wheels or any gains??? Please give your opinion on your experience with different size wheels and performance..

The weight of the wheels affect acceleration, and generally the smaller the wheels, the lighter they can be.

Smaller the better since there is less weight at the outer diameter. The force required to rotate the wheel is a function of the mass and the distance from the centre therefore the less mass on the outer circumference the better

I'm running 18's with the same overall diameter (tire wheel combo) as stock and haven't noticed any difference really. Like others have said...check out the weight of the wheels.

Even though the overall outer diameter is the same the more significant mass is the wheel so the smaller the wheel the closer the majority of the mass is to the centre.

That said your 18s could feel the same as stock since they are lighter overall and the increase in diameter could be cancelled out by the reduction in weight. However if you went with the same type of wheels in 16s you would fell the difference.

The difference in weight it also increased relatively since unsprung weight is equal to 4 times that of sprung weight due to the motion and energy etc.

Yeah I know. I thought about just going with some light weight 16's, but damn the 18's look so nice in the S2K's wheel wells

My 18's are heavy... even as far as 18's go. The car is a little less responsive to the throttle than the stock wheels but not a huge difference.

However, it is also a little less twitchy on the hwy with the bigger, wider, and heavier wheels.

If you do any track days or perf. driving save the OEM's for that. Plus 16" rubber is much cheaper to replace than 18's.
