Paint protection film
#12
I have just always used the Xpel sealant every once and a while. Keeps it slick feeling and shiny. Many use other preferred forms of general paint sealants however I chose to stick to the Xpel as I did not want to risk anything reacting with the film of changing the overall hue. I am probably over cautious however and I have read you can treat it just like you do for paint.

My daily (RSX-S) has Suntek PPF and I have regular clear bra on a few portions of my S. Like jeffreygebhart, my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. The problem I've had with the regular clear bra (I think it's 3M but not sure) is that it turns yellow after a while. I plan to have it removed and replaced with Suntek film eventually. I can't speak to the self-healing feature but, from my experience the last couple of years, Suntek PPF has been low maintenance.

This is all great insight. Thank you all for sharing.
I think I'm going to do the whole front and side mirrors for the s2 in Xpel ultimate.
now all I need to do is find a good installer in the Seattle area.
any PNWster S2k owners out there with recommendations?

It should also be mentioned that it is hard to compare the cost of a "fresh paint job" with the cost of a clear film because no paint job I have ever seen has held up the way OEM paint does. The car will look good right after painting but the bumper will chip much easier and will need continuous resprays. This was a large consideration for me when deciding to spend the money on a film. It is always an option however to paint the car when it gets bad enough and then you could throw a film on then so it stays good.
A high quality complete full car paint job is $6000-9000. Any less than that, for the full car and they are compromising somewhere. Usually in the labor for prep and finishing.

Having had the film on several S2k's and having seen many, many, many unsealed S2k's I will tell you, if cost is a consideration, the areas that are in need the most.
The front bumper and the area of the fenders just above and inside the headlights are by far, and I mean by far, the most likely to get chipped by road debris. The front half of the hood far less, but still worth it to cover. Anything else is window dressing, no reason not to do it, but far less necessary.
