I was taking a look at it...for removal, do you start at the two corners of the windshield frame? I've also heard different methods for removing the goo that's left, such as goo-gone, 3m stuff, and the most simple being using a hairdryer...any advice?

I started to pull the tape UP from the sides, rather from the top of each side of the frame. It came off pretty easily, but it did leave a fair amount of goo on the frame. I used this stuff called Xenit, which is a citrus-based solvent to get the remaining goo offa there. It turns the residue into something roughly akin to boogers...worked quite well! Put a fresh coat of Xymol on there, voila!

:D

Greg, just a question...how exactly did you get the tape to start coming off from the bottom? On the car I saw today, there's no way I could have fit a finger down there.

Unless they have changed the shape of the tape, it's easy to get your fingers in there to get started peeling it up. If they HAVE changed it, and I can't imagine why they would change it, I don't see why it would be that big of a deal to start at the tops of the frames. The tape is in 3 sections. I don't think it would matter which way you peeled it...

Jay,
The tape removal is much easier if you have the door open. :D

Ahh...that must be it...I never looked at it with the door open. Thanks!

Is anyone sure that the frame is always painted the same color as the body? I'd hate to start pulling tape off and then find just a base coat or even another color underneath.

I haven't heard of anyone finding anything but the body color under there except for that one guy who claimed to have found Jimmy Hoffa.

Greg:

Giving advice on taking off the tape. Is your insurance paid up?
