Qustion on S2000 insurance rating in NJ

hey guys, finally i finalized my contract after my insurance got taken care of.
( meaning all my points are all gone)

But just curious about how much you guys are paying in NJ.
Because they quote me $3500~4000 a year, even though i put the car under my fathers name. He has clean record what so ever. Also agency said that rate is with multiple car discount rate.

And of course i don't have any point on me right now ( i had a lot back 4 years ago, and its all cleaned up, does this record hurts?)

Why the freakin car so expensive to insure? its like buying another car.

By the way, im insured with First Trenton.

Please let me know how much you guys are paying, and what company you guys are insured to. It will help me to find my way out i hope.

If i can't make this amount lower it looks like i might have to cancel my contract and somehow get my non-refundable deposit back...(hope i can)
Agency freakin screw me over by saying its gonna be around $2000 when all my points are gone....liars!!!!!!!!

Anyways, Thx in advance.

Ok, never heard of First Trenton. They sound like an insurance broker, not their own agency. That means you pay them, but your actually insured threw a third party. It also means that they add 10-15% to your rate (my mother works for a similar place, so I know all about them).

You ever see the Geico commercial? Well, its time to call them. If your points are gone you shouldn't have any trouble going threw them and your rate will probably drop $800-1200.

I use NJ manufactures and pay $1200 a year, but mines an 00. 300k collision and 500 deductible. NJ manufactures is hard to get into though, you gotta work for a company that has an agreement with them and no points... For anything.

My 2004 STI, when I had it, was $1495 a year and its rating is higher than the s2k.

Of course I'm 30 years old and no points. If you went Geico you'd probably pay $2500 or so if you really have gotten rid of all your points and put in your fathers name.

Heh, and next time you may want to post NJ questions in the regional forums where you'll get more NJ people looking at it.

I'm moving to NJ next month and i just got quotes from Prudential and Geico. I think I'm still in shock. I'm 39 y/o with ZERO points and zero accidents.....EVER! And for 100/300 coverage it going to cost me $1808.00 a year. I know hat sounds dirt cheap to some of you, but I only pay $1050.00 here in PA. Insurance in NJ is a joke.

It is funny that insurance company will drop you like a hot potato if you've got something on your record but then they will still charge you quite a significant amount if you don't have any record. So either way, you are stuck having to pay outrageous amount. Insurance must be a great business to get into. I know that is the general idea of an insurance company. I thnk the rates on S2K will go up higher as more people drive it and make claims. Oh, well!

I was with Prudential in NJ, paying $2800 a year, now with Geico I am a little under $2000.

for me in NJ (Essex County - the worst) - I'm 48 - clean record/tier 6 (best rating) with State Farm ..second car ... homeowner ... etc... car is listed as recreational vehicle approx 7500 miles a year - I just let the company know that I put 9K on during that period - they haven't yet changed my class - but if they do my rates will go p about 150/175 for the year.

during first year of policy = $1800/year

this year price has gone down to $1400/year

not too bad actually - think of this though my S is garage kept - if I kept the car in NYC/Manahattan on the street my insurance would run about 20% less than what I pay for living in Essex Cty NJ...
