Rattle behind seats -- What could it be?
#1
Okay, two weeks into this car and I just put the top and drove to and from work. At work, I was pulling into one of our lots and I hit a small pothole. No rim damage, but it was fairly hard. After that, I started noticing this metallic rattle coming from behind the seats and close to the center console and storage area.
First, I took eveything out of the storage compartments and found nothing that would cause that rattle sound. I put the top down and will be driving for a short distance to see if it is coming from the convertible mechanism.
The other possibility is that when I hit the small pothole, Imay have loosened or broken an exhaust system hangar.
Any thoughts on what this could be????

First check to see if your passenger side seatbelt is hitting the plastic there. Fairly common complaint. Secondly, go into your spare tire well and make sure it's screwed down all the way. Finally, put the car up on a lift or jack stands and inspect everything beneath. HTH

With me it is one of three things.
- Seat belt like VT mentioned.
- Passanger seat, advance the back further to the front.
- The top itself when it is down, if there is some play in it it rattles a little.

My passenger seatbelt has been a constant source of rattles. Usually the passenger, upon exiting, leaves the belt halfway down the seat. Here it rattles against the door. Pull it to the top of the seat; I found my rattle was cured by this. Good luck!
