Hey there...what do you think of the idea??
I think it will make quite a difference. |
Why?

I assume you have emission inspections from time to time, so removing your converter probably wouldn't be very wise. What do you hope to gain by removing the cat?

Removing the catalytic with improve the hp

Hey all,
I was told that the S2000 catalyst is a metal cat, not ceramic. It supposedly is much more free flowing than the older technology, and MUCH more expensive. You may have nominal gains at best, probably nothing worth writing home about. -Nick |
It is my understanding that removing the cat is good for 8-10hp.
|
I believe in those 8-10hp, cause my brother has also removed his catalytic from his 99

BlueS2000-
It sounds like you've already made up your mind. Metallic catalysts are different from the ones in your brother's Civic and your neighour's Integra. Those are ceramic- completely archaic compared to the metal type. I also wouldn't base modifications on what works on a Civic based platform- like I wouldn't install a 4-1 header on the S2000, although that is THE header design of choice for the Type R. Good luck on getting those 8HP out of a test pipe. I look forward to hearing about your exploits with this modification. -Nick |
