Reverse sensing side view mirrors

Has anybody seen these for the s2k? I hate that the mirrors don't automatically point down when the cars go into reverse.

i haven't seen or heard of it in the s2k, but that would be a nice feature, its very helpful, my mom's 525i has that, it helps a lot, especially when backing out of the garage to make sure nothing will be hit or nothing is in the way...

Why use your mirrors when reversing? Don't you just look back over your shoulder?

Clift Nov 9, 2003 01:13 PM

hmm, while we're at it they should add heated seats, autodimming mirrors, 13-way automatic adjustable seats, drivers seat 4 memory, navigation system, satellite homelink, 3 more cupholders, etc. etc. etc.

I'm with ya Clift... don't forget the undercar neon. No the reason I want it is because I back into my garage everyday and it is a tight squeeze. So looking over my shoulder isn't the easiest solution. It is also handy for parallel parking to make sure you don't curb check your rims.

Yeah, I am really starting to hate all this doo-dad garbage in all cars, let alone sports cars. I had the mirror function on m 2002 TL-S, and it did not make my day. The safest way to reverse is to look over your shoulder.

I liked thr autodimming mirror, but again, when it comes to sporty cars "what's behind me is not important". Old racer joke.

Ok, it's just that I have a very tight garage and often parallel park but have never had a problem. And I am very particular about my wheels. They have never been curbed. I guess it has to do with how capable you are as a driver.

looking over one's shoulder in this car with a creased plastic window is well... ah... pretty annoying!

Yeah, why not integrate a 3D-radar screen of all objects around the car and display a map on the dash somewhere? I'm sure that won't weigh anything :)

The auto-down mirrors will be standard on the '05 with the automatic tranny!

Wow, you just blew a simple question way out of proportion. When I bought my S, I bought it as a sports car and I understood going into it I was giving up certain comforts offered in other cars but there is no reason to make ridiculous suggestions like this when someone is merely used to having things one way and they have a hard time going back.
