Ringing sound when let off the gas

My '01 w/2600 miles started making a quiet ringing sound. When I let
go of the gas pedal I hear this sound almost like a quiet cell phone
ringing. Any one experience this??

I should add that this sound just started happening.

THat's a bout the right mileage for it to start happening - however, I would suggest living with it for as long as you can and get the new clutch later.

Does it "ring" while decelerating in 3rd gear at around 36-40 MPH? That's my clutch buzz.

It some cars it comes across as a buzz and others as a ring.

It really depends on how you set the ring type switch to :)

It's the clutch. It's a problem that won't go away so you'll need to learn to live with it. The clutch TSB doesn't solve it.

I like your thinking s2ktaxi...but riddle me this, please...how long is a TSB "good" for??? I am about to hit 6K miles on my '01, and I purchased it used with 3K already on it. I know I have this issue too. But as I can live with it (now that I know what *it* is), and since other threads have indicated that there is nothing "mechanical" truely at issue (i.e. nutins about ta "break":( just b/c its noisy)...then I'd just as soon get as much life out of the current one as possible b4 purchasing another clutch -- yes the TSB is for the clutch, but I believe in replacing the pressure plate & throw out bearing at the same time...so again, I'd just as soon hold off for a bit.

...ramble, ramble....oops, sorry about that...back to the point :D... How long is a TSB good for??? Thanks in advance.

The TSB is good till you actually use it - ideally before the car is old and rusty... You should be able to do it up to 36k miles. If you want to be on the safe side, just mention it the next time you have your car at the dealer but tell them to not do anything yet because you don't have the time. That way, it's doc'd earlier. Then you can come "collect" later.
