RIP My all stock '04 GPW
On Saturday, 6/15/19, I was headed home from my friend's place when a piece of human filth in a BMW M4 ran a red light across me and destroyed my beloved S2000. Not content to risk just his own like and mine, he had his wife and teenage son in the car as well. The EMTs told the son that he had symptoms of whiplash and that he should go to the hospital, but the garbage doesn't fall from the garbage tree and he told the EMTs that they're stupid and he's just going home. I was sore from the crash, especially my lower back, so I took the ride to the hospital to get checked out.
I won't go into too many details just yet, because I'm still negotiating with the insurance company, but they deemed my S2000 a total loss. I've had dash cams in all of my vehicles for the last 5 years or so, and it definitely paid off this time. Upon presenting the footage from the dash cam to the appropriate people, the other driver was immediately determined to be 100% at fault.

Not stock.
Sad story and I hope you feel better soon.
I also hope that you are fairly compensated.

If you're referring to the CR front spoiler, my understanding is that the original owner had it installed at a Honda dealership as soon as they were available. It's not a factory piece, but I still consider it stock.
Thanks
Thanks. Time to start searching for a replacement S2k

sorry to hear it. always look on the positive side. As long as you are ok a car is car. When my first s2k got totaled (my own fault), i was really upset. However I was able to find a better car (I didn't think it was possible) within 2 weeks. However the second time around I promised my self to not be emotionally attached to material possessions that much. Hopefully you come ahead on the settlement.
have the dash cam for the same reason on all my cars... in this day and age it should be factory installed (its not like there isn't much facebook and google doesn't know about everyone already...)

Well, at least you are okay! Cars can be replaced, people can't. Good thing you had the dash cams, been thinking about it myself. My wife and I got rear-ended about 5 years ago. It took 3 years for the insurance companies/lawyers to work it out, despite a police report and ticket against the other driver putting her at 100% fault. (she was texting and driving, with her two young children in the car...at least they were in car seats)
BTW, them leaving the site without medical check-up is highly suspect.
1) Probably intoxicated/drugs/or some substance
2) A tactic some people use for litigation purposes (if they check out fine after the accident, it makes it harder to sue later on for injury)
3) Could also have some other legal/driving issues they were trying to avoid by leaving the scene ASAP
Of course, I'm no lawyer or cop, but reliable sources have told me this.

Damn, not another GPW taken out by a car that is recycled and not iconic! I feel for you and hope everything works out well but happy to hear you are OK, very sorry to hear this.
