I stumbled across the very wonderful S2000-Online yesterday. After many happy hours reading the posts most of my concerns (plus a few news ones I didn't even realise that I should have - like oil consumption over the first 3k or so) have been resolved.

My S2000 is now 12 days old and revving to 9000 at every opportunity (yes, I did behave for the 1st 600 miles!)

The wonderful world of soft-tops is new to me (previous cars - 1990 3 dr. Civic VTEC, 1993 5 door civic VTi, 1995 Prelude VTEC) and the rear window is bothering me a bit. I have only lowered the roof 3 or 4 times (remember - I do live in England!) and the rear window has semi-creassed.When it folds it seems to buckle in the middle, rather than smoothly folding accross the width of the window. The net result of this is when the roof is up, there are rippled areas in the centre of the window which distort rear vision.

Is this a problem or am I just too damn used to watching the world behind me through glass???

A common problem. It comes and goes. Most times you need to fold the roof half way down, get out and pop the crease out with your hand before folding the rest of the way down.

There are also tubes made by various people that you can place against the outside of the window when lowering the roof that stop the creasing.

Clearly human intervention is advisable and wizzing the roof down at traffic lights is not a wise move!

Is there a way of removing / reducing the rippling in the window once the damage is done? (a process involving a hair dryer to softem the plastic springs to mind, but I dont think I am that brave/stupid).

PS I ordered one of your highly regarded 'roof well mats' yesterday!

The ripples usually come out if you have the top up and the sun is out. The heat from the sun warms the plastic up and the creases disappear.

A simple terrycloth towel beats the Miata tube. The tube must be held in place while
the top is lowered. The towel only requires tucking at the top and either side where
the top overlaps the rear window. The towel is now held in place when you lower
the top and you can raise it again for temporay security when shopping or dining.
After 18 months and almost as many miles, my rear window is free of scratches and
creases. Get a Muz mat for the inside top well to protect inside window from scratching.

Sun out......hmmmmmmmm, doesn't happen very often in these parts!!
