This is probably a FAQ, but I'm considering getting an S2000 right now, and I'm concerned about the rollover protection on the S2000. I went to sit in one at my dealer, and the rollbars terminate BELOW my head (I'm 6' tall). Have there been any rollover tests done on this car and are the results satisfactory? I notice that for the comparable European roadsters (Boxster, Z3, Audi TT), the rollbars are much higher.

Thanks,
Ray

Do you plan on rolling it?

It's a major concern, and without angling them forward over the seats, you couldn't get a replacement bar inside the top. As far as I know, the mugen cage is the only option, and it's UGLY.

I wouldn't be too concerned. I've run calls where Miata's have been 'turtled' and passangers were unhurt. I'm 6'2", and I'm buying one.

SugarRay - I don't know where you are, but there's a company in Virginia (I think) that needs a car for a few days so that they can produce a more functional rollbar for the S2K. They are reknown for their Miata bars. For the use of a car, you get to keep the first one produced. I'm sure that there are many of us who would consider an aftermarket roll bar if it would improve our safety in the event of a rollover. Does anyone have any more info on this?

I believe the windshield fram also acts as a roll bar.

I'm 6'-2". I never worried about it in my Miatas. I'm less worried about rolling the S2K.
Best advice, don't roll your car.

If I remember correctly, there was a guy (Adamxxxx??) on the H-A net board from NY who rolled his black S2K after some kids ran out in the street and he swerved, drove up an embankment and the car flipped over. He only received minor cuts and bruises I think. Anyways I wouldn't be too concerned unless you're pretty tall and you drive hard then 1) install a roll cage or 2)just be sure your head is below the roll bars
