I lived in NJ, didn't have a problem with the S2000 without front plates but I had only gotten the car for a few months. Got a ticket on my old BMW without front plates. The cops set up a road-block in Fort Lee and of course I got the "pull over" wave. The officer was extremely polite but still, $50something for my violation. I knew it was illegal so it was time to pay up.
However, I just have to vent that this was on an early Sunday morning- my favorite time to go for a drive since there aren't that many cars on the streets yet. A road-block on a Sunday morning? Just seemed a little odd to me.

Living in NJ and running no front liscense plate, I've been pulled over once for it specifically; just a warning, no ticket. I was also pulled over for "too loud of an exhaust" and he mentioned the front liscense plate was missing; once again no ticket. I was also in a parking lot and a real cool cop that we know came up and he told me if he sees me again with no front plate, he'll give me a ticket.
So far so good *knock on wood*

Interesting thread. I just bought the car less than a month ago and I've been putting off mounting the front plate because it looks so much better without it, so I've been carrying the plate around in the trunk with the intention that if I get pulled over, I can show it to the cop and tell him that I just need to get some bolts to attach it. Of course, if I'm still doing that after 6 months, it probably won't carry much weight.

Here in Nevada, except for trailers and motorcycles, front license plates are required on most motor vehicles UNLESS your front bumper was not designed to hold a plate and if the manufacturer didn't provide an add-on bracket to hold the plate. I got this from the DMV website. I have the license plate covers on my car right now, but if I ever get any hassles from cops about having no front plate, I'll just put body filler on the holes and touch them up with paint, and tell them my front bumper wasn't made for them.

When I lived in IL, I got a warning once for no plate in my old gsr.
I currently live in MO and have never gotten pulled over for no front plate. I can't even put mine on because the holes are shaved, so if they do pull me over I will show them there is no where to put it (don't know if that will be a valid excuse, but it's worth a try).

ohhh thats a front plate....I thought it was just a "spare" for the rear
I dont run front plates on any of my cars and never had an issue. If you dont drive like a d!ck and dont give them reason to stop you, cops will leave you alone in my experience.
