I am 33 and have owned 20+ cars including several Miata's, Mustang 5.0's, Porsche's, GTi's, etc...and this my friends is the absolute pinnacle so far in terms of fun to drive. I purchased this new S2000 over a slightly "used" Boxster S and I am thrilled that I did. Since I hit 600 miles I have been a VTEC freak.

Today I went for a couple hundred mile run with the top down and hit 120 MPH by accident on a wide open back road. There was a slow car in front of about 5 other cars in front of me. As we each took our turn to pass I just kept on knocking off the cars in front of me as the road was clear ahead. Next thing I know, I passed them all and I looked down and I was going 120! Oops.

Later on...

Had a Subaru (WRX?) on my tail. Going fast but not racing. He came on the inside around a nice, long, gradually sharper corner and I put a nice controlled acceleration on him and he just fell off a cliff as the S just grabbed the asphalt. The S just handles with so much feeling.

I have about 1200 miles now and I am getting to feel the cars potential. Anyway, just wanted to throw in my two cents and let everyone know how much I absolutely love this car.

The S is my second car which is rather depressing. I hope that I haven't hit the pinnacle of car enjoyment so soon. That means that for the rest of my life, I will be wishing for my S again. Wouldn't that be a sad way to live for the next 50 years.

Congrats on your new car. I'm having the same exact experience on the other side of the country! Drove the Boxster S, bought the S2000.

340 twisty California mountain miles yesterday in my '03 S2000 Silverstone/Black... 10 days and 1200 miles on it so far

I agree, the S2K is a blast to drive!

I let my brother-in-law drive the S today. He has had 240 z's, 280 z's and is a big Z guy. Was actually considering getting a new 350 Z.

At first, he was shifting at 6-7k and I could tell he wasn't impressed. I said, you need to bring it all the way to 9. I know it takes some getting used to but that is how this car was designed and it can take it.

So he did. After a few buzzes to 9k, he couldn't stop. He lives in a nice neighborhood and is near 40 yrs old. He hit 80 driving by some neighbors! He kept saying, I see what you mean....this car is a blast to drive. He couldn't stop smiling nor VTEC'ng!

He also said "I bet alot of people test drive this car and aren't impressed because they don't know how to drive it."

He has three small kids at home and when we returned back, he said "thanks, I needed that. That car is a very pleasant surprise and I am very impressed!"

I test drove the 350Z three times during the decision-making process. In the end, the S2000 felt like more fun. Now that I've had it for a week, topless driving at 9,000 RPM on mountain roads confirmed that I made the right choice. I force everyone that test drives my car to go to at least 8,000 RPM.
