AutoTrader National Search - Honda S2000 - Sub 30K miles, highest price first
Under premium listings: there's four AP2's listed before the first AP1 shows up, and the AP1 has fewer miles than three of them.
Under featured listings: there's seven AP2's listed before the first AP1 shows up (with 5400 miles, fewer than any of the prior AP2's), and another 5 AP2's until the next AP1.
Your preference is for the AP1 engine, that's fine. The market shows that the AP2's are more valuable.
And comparing to air-cooled 911's... that's a much bigger tech shift than adding displacement and dropping redline by 11%.
It's not my preference for the AP1 engine I was referencing.... It was the automotive industry's preference for it and their acknowledgement of how groundbreaking it was. This is less about AP2 and more about fact that here is USA the AP2 lost the engine that was groundbreaking. Or more diluted may be better way of saying it.
So your statistics on current resale is irrelevant. I said 20 years from now, it will be the AP1 here in USA that will be most collectable in its original form. That is just how these things work...... Time and time again...
And you keep diminishing the displacement and redline of the F20c while seemingly ignoring Car and Driver article, the Engine of the Year Awards it received. The F22c didn't get any of those accolades...... That is what will matter down the road as far as collectability.....

So you are saying that an AP2 CR/Type S, in their incredibly limited production numbers and lack of and F20, will be worth less as than a regular AP1. All based the engine spinning faster. Get outta here. You compare watches like that's even relevant in this scenario. A better comparison would have been the S500/600/800 (which one in good condition is worth quite a bit these days) to an S2000 than this whole AP1/AP2 debate.

Well, I posted thread with another article referencing the F20c engine as one of the greatest of all times in addition to the Car and Driver. You guys turned it into more of an AP1 AP2 debate......
And I am not saying a CR won't be collectible, but quite frankly that is more of a niche market and not very "classic roadster". I personally think rear wing and front spoiler are ugly and way to ricey. And no thanks to no soft top....
So my watch analogy is relevant as an unmolested original ALWAYS winds up being more desirable over time........ That holds true for more than automobiles.....
Condition and mileage will also play role of course. 20 years from now, pristine examples of s2000s will be rare no matter if they are Ap1, AP2 or Crs. But an unmolested, Ap1 with very low miles will be most coveted..... A ricer looking CR won't....

All of your responses are based on your opinion.
Opinion ≠ Fact
No the watch comparison is a bad one, you are comparing something vintage with something contemporary. S2000s aren't vintage yet.
Take your circlejerk elsewhere.

Not sure if you can read well, but
1. I clearly stated in my thread title "Preserve them" as in for the future and mentioned in original post 15+ years out. Hence watch analogy appropriate.
2. Car and Driver and Driving articles choosing F20c as greatest engine aren't my opinions.... it's a consensus amongst professionals.
And btw, you keep coming back to my thread....
