I am not a poser in any way, nor do I give a rats ass about the BLING! BLING! factor. This is strictly from a performance/fun to drive point of view.

I have a nice 4 door Acura 3.5 RL, so I use that for my daily driver. My s2000 is a fun weekend toy. Now I wanted to know, if the possibility came up...

Would you trade in your s2000 (about $30K) add another $30K and get a Ferrarri 348Coupe.

What about a Testarossa???

This is just a hypothetical question.....

Also....please do not say something stupid like...."dude...its ferrari vs honda"
Because its the finest honda ever produced against an older ferrari....

So....opinions..................

Honestly, In your situation If I wanted to trade up I'd actually get the finest Honda ever made and get an NSX.

STay far away from the Testarossa. They are just not meant for driving at all, lol. They fall apart. A clutch will cost you about $3,500! I have seen people trade new NSX's for 88 Testarosas and regret the day they ever did that. If i had 60 to spend, i'd get a 97+ NSX and add a comptech blower and eat ferraris for lunch.

I actually didnt think of that....
You really think that the NSX is more "driving pleasure" per se than these Italians....

I've heard from people that the Ferrari whine is one of the most addicting sounds in the world.....like VTEC on steroids......

Also.....although Ive always been a fan of the NSX...and think its one of the finest cars produced to date (10 years old still can run with the best of em)
Is it THAT much better/different than the s2000?????

Thanks for the responses guys

The pre 97 NSX (I believe) is about the same in performance to an s2000, but the 3.2 is well above. An NSX is an experience for sure. For 60 k you could get, at least from what I've seen, an 00 model NSX in great condition. That would give you the NSX with a Targa top. The interior is a dream and upkeep is not too bad. If you get the Ferrari, you have to realize the upkeep is nuts. a ferrari is truly a car that if you have to ask about the costs, you can't afford it. The 348 though beautiful has a reason it can be procured for only 60k. Performance wise it's a dog. I dont' recall the testarossa numbers, but the design is very 80's dated IMO.

You guys are right.....I just saw one this weekend for sale and just kinda struck me....although japanese cars are still my favorite (flame away, but I always though if honda built a sports car for 250 grand, italy, and germany simply COULD not produce a car like that...)...always wanted a ferrari. Oh well...ill wait till I hit 30 and get a modena spyder or something....

Anyway....for now.....I do have the money, especially that maintenace is not an issue.....

Would you get a NEW NSX...or.....
Wait for the new model????

My .02 about the 348 Ferrari (from someone who has never owned one)...

They have a bad rep among Ferrari folks.

The 308 which preceded it and the 355 which came after have fine reputaions and are well loved.

Jack
