s2000 popularity

Would the Honda make s2000 to become like the mustangs huge production

Carlson 05-21-2002 10:31 PM

A base mustang costs $20K, an S2K costs $33K...... what do you think?:)

intimidator2000 05-21-2002 10:35 PM

Well if Honda produces alot of s2000 people will buy and become huge like the Mustangs

I'll sum it up in one word...."exclusitivity".....mustangs are a dime a dozen (not trying to dis them....just a fact). If Honda increased production to Mustang numbers the s2000 would lose this "feel" about it.:)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO not even kid about this. Honda knows how to keep a car's orignality and rarity. The s2000 is produced at about 6000 per year (last time i heard). Id love it if they just stopped making them now. And honestly, their appeal is in their exclusivity, if honda destroys that, people would eb less apt to drop the $. Mike

I think the Sol VTEC is more rare than the S2K

i don't think we will ever have to worry about their being alot of s2k's. Biggest reason, its a 2 seater. Howmany 2 seaters do u see arround even the ones that are produced in much larger quantities like the z3's or various porsches. sometimes i get fooled into thinking their are alot of them since i live in a very rich area but leave the area and it drops to zilch!
Also honda would really have to ramp up their production line from hand built to automated.

I see to many miata's

QUOTE: I see too many Miatas.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The Miata is a mass produced vehicle (especially since Ford Motor Company took over Mazda). You also have to take into consideration that the Miata starts at a base price of less than $17,000.00 (US). The Honda S2000 is not mass produced and is almost double in cost.

If you are going to make a comparison to the S2000, compare it to an automobile that is in the same class as this car (or at least as something similiar aside from the fact it is a convertible).

If you are going to make a comparison, make a comparison. :thumbdn:

EDIT: Spelling errors.

Certainly agree with you here. One of the many reasons I chose the S2000 was the fact that not everyone had one! Driving to and from work in DC, I see a lot of cars and very rarely see another S2000.
