S2000 - Simply One of the Best Cars
#11
I recently read that the Ferrari head engine engineer responsible for the current v12 motor stated that his favourite engine was the ap1 s2000 motor, that is quite the support from someone like that, maybe that is where he got the inspiration to make a 9k rpm motor.
I've also considered selling the s2k due to it being rather impractical and with our short driving season up here, I would never have one as a daily driver but it always brings smile to my face when driving it. Still loving it after 8 years, I wish I had a double garage rather than my 1.5, maybe it wouldn't be as impractical taking up all of my garage space.

With the S2000, I never worry aside from door dings and rock chips I just drive and enjoy it. And it's so liberating. It's an amazing car - one of the most under-rated and under-appreciated cars.

Without a doubt. I miss a couple of the cars I've owned over the years, but if I didn't have my S2K I'd be pining away for it.

It’s hard to convey to people who judge cars by acceleration of other stats just how good the S2000 is. Engine, shifter, steering, ergonomics, the convertible...this is about as good as it gets. I don’t have the experience of driving as much as the OP but I don’t think there’s anything under $100k I’d trade for this car. I want to drive a Lotus Elise and a well sorted NSX targa but it’s not a list much longer.

Ive really been needing a truck also for a ton of reasons, but I found an older forester in great shape that I bought instead. the s2000 is so much easier to own when you aren't forced to drive it every day.
I live in a big city with a lot of traffic and its hot here in Florida, sometimes its not fun the drive the s2000 if you're forced to be stuck in all that

I understand your (OP's) feelings. I was a hard core Mustang guy. My last was an 03 SVT Cobra that in its day was a beast. I had modified it and used as a DD. I loved that car, until I kept seeing a S2000 on the way to work every day. On a whim, I stopped at the local Honda dealership and test drove a S2000. That was all it took. When I told all my "friends" on StangNet that I was trading the Cobra for a new S2000, they were incredulous. I knew too that none of them had ever driven/owned a S2000 and that they were simply biased towards "ricers" in general. Best vehicle decision I've ever made. My S2000 is still going, and while it isn't a dragster or the most comfortable carin the world, it's every bit a classic in the truest sense of the word.
