Default S2000 Strange Behavior

Hi All,

I have had my 04 S2k for 9 months. Recently it has been doing something strange. When I first start the car in the morning and leave my house, If I accelerate near the redline the car has been cutting out (just like if I over rev the engine the gas seems to cut out.) it happens at 7000rpm. I do not receive any check engine lights. Has anyone seen this behavior? Neither of the dealers in Tucson have any clue.

Thanks

If you try to bring the engine revs up too high before the engine oil is hot enough, there is a fuel shutoff to protect your engine. Your S should never be revved into the vtec range until you have 3 bars showing on the temp gauge, (approx 10 mins driving time).

its to protect the engine. you have to let the car warm up which is 7or 8 bars i think. a few minutes after that and the car is at operational temp. doesnt all mean let it sit there because its good to warm up the diff and tranny with the engine while drive gently for the first few miles.

thanks guy's... I'll step off the pedal!!! the problem I have in the morning I live on a high volume road with no stoplights. to merge into traffic. I still wonder why neither dealer had a clue. One of the dealers told me the car should rev to 13000 ( I hung up on him)

Hehehe, this is why I like this board, answered my question before I could even search or post it. I had that experience this morning on the way to work. Scared the hell out of me. Never had that issue with my GSR, then again I never realized it was idiotic to do so.
