Every once in a while I have a problem getting the car into reverse. The problem isn't with the gear itself, but when plunging the shifter past the reverse gate. It doesn't want to go.
Tried:

wiggling the shifter
letting the car drift
letting the car warm up
shifting through the other gears
killing the car (not literally :))[/list]The only way I could shift into reverse was to put my arm under the e-brake lever and use the added leverage to force it down. (I know bad, but I was suck in a downhill parking space and needed to go) Left a nasty mark on my arm for a while. The problem is intermittant. Anybody else experienced this? |
Push in the clutch, shift to 4th, then shift to reverse. Not only will it save your synchros, it eliminates the "going into reverse grind."
And the added benefit... it works on any car, not just the S2000. |

Oh, then just force the hell out of it. :)

Perhaps a trip to your dealership is in order; it sounds like you can easily reproduce the problem. I have never experienced this problem.

I have noticed the same problem. Double clutch works for me. Release the clutch in neutral to spin the gears, then depress and shift to reverse. Reverse does have a synchro. Moving gears help it work.

Go to your dealer a gentelman from LI(pwr6spd) was at a NJ meet and we had to literally push him back into a space cuz it wouldnt go down. I know this because I put all 185 pounds of force on it and couldnt get it to go down.
I literally could have done a hand stand in the car if I could balance myself and it wouldnt go down! Trip to the dealer worked for him. |
