Default Should I apply tape for 900 mile drive?

Looking at doing a 900 mile after I pickup a new to me CR. Should I apply tape to prevent chips and stone damage? All driving on US or Interstate highways.

If you recommend tape, please share with me what brand you have used, what size and how it worked for you. Did it leave any residue?

Thanks for your experience

I would. You are bound to get a couple chips during a 900 mile drive. People recommend the 3M painters tape but I do not have any first hand experience using it.

I would def tape it. As mentioined, 3M painters tape (the blue one) is the way to go, does not leave any residue, and is easily removable.

check this thread out, people go all out on it!

I taped the front of mine and behind the tires. It all came off with zero residue and if you tape the layers right it pulls off super easily

I would tape it. Cheap and easy enough. I've had good results with 3M painter's tape.

3m blue tape. Get the thickest one.

Tape it because you are bound to get some rock chip and dead bugs on your car. I actually drove it for another two weeks with the tape on it and it didn't leave any residue when I finally peeled it off.

For a garage queen, yes.
A car that will be driven, no.
If you plan on getting a 3m clear bra, yes.
