Default should i not get an 06 or newer?

because of the drive by wire and vts. how much would it cost to fix the dbw so its better? even with a mod to the dbw system is it still better to have a throttle cable?

So... What's the problem with DBW (except your perceived-perception of DBW itself)?

It causes issues with modding, which is fact.

Typically DBW has a pretty annoying delay from when you hit the gas pedal and when the throttle opens. Granted I haven't driven a 06+ at the limit to notice how bad or not bad it is.

Honestly it works fine for me. I like the Fpro option.

me and my gf have both generations of the AP2

both cars are THE SAME. I can feel a slight difference (throttle is easier to press), but there is pretty much no delay in throttle response

Now, having previously owned an 06 SI...that's a car with CRAPPY DBW

what issues with modding are you referring to for drive-by-wire?

i feel no delay with the s2000's drive-by-wire. the delay you're referring to is hundreths or thousandths of a second. this is perceivable to you?

There is no delay on the gas pedal when you step on it. I've driven many many s2ks, on and off the track.

DBW generally is a BETTER thing in this car. The tc/vsa is fully defeatable with just holding a button for 1.5 seconds, and the programmable ECU that comes with the DBW makes for much easier tuning when it comes to power.

The only drawback is the higher price.

OTOH, your insurance on a 06+ may be cheaper due to the VSA. YMMV.

I see no issues with modding a DBW S...many f/i companies are compensating for it and I haven't heard of any issues so far.

My $.02:

I am glad to see people giving you good advice here. 06+ is great, especially if you are going to dd the car since it has VSA and TC which should keep you out of trouble.

The only drawback I can think of for DBW is that it would be very difficult to do ITBs. That is the ONLY thing I can think of other than cost which was already mentioned earlier.

If 06+ is in your price range, go for it!

Quick Reply: should i not get an 06 or newer?
